Outreach Initiatives
You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
God’s heart for the oppressed and the deprived is a theme that is evidenced throughout Scripture. As Christ’s hands and feet on earth, we believe that a major portion of our energies and resources need to be directed toward caring for his people.
We believe that we as a community are called to serve not only those who live in our own backyard, our Jerusalem, but also those with whom we are unfamiliar, Judea and Samaria, and those halfway across the globe. The three major thrusts of our outreach efforts reflect that belief:
- Edge Teen Center in Liberty Township
- Welcome Home transitional housing in Cincinnati
- Water wells with our ministry partners in Lira, Uganda
Jesus turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman?” Luke 7:44
Simon had not really seen the woman who poured perfume on Jesus’ feet, but Jesus turned toward her. He did more than provide for the physical needs of people. He saw them, talked with them and walked with them.
We are not content to write checks, but purpose that our efforts at outreach are realized in the context of relationship. We enter into relationship with our outreach partners, mindful that we have as much to learn from them as they from us.
