Our Culture

WellSpring is a thriving church of approximately 500 – an energetic, authentic place where you can have a genuine connection with a community of friends. It’s a place that offers exciting, ever-changing opportunities to explore with others what it means to be followers of Christ.

How would we describe the community of WellSpring?

Conversational. There’s a lot that can be learned through pastors and church leaders, but we think Biblical wisdom is often revealed as we wrestle with the truths of scripture together. We’re committed to learning together through dialogue: For example, on any given week at WellSpring various small groups of people meet in homes, at the church and elsewhere. Some are doing a Bible study, and others are discussing their thoughts on the weekly message they heard on Sunday. During Sunday services we occasionally welcome a panel of people to share their life experiences as they’ve pursued God’s calling for them and their family, or we have an interactive Q&A discussion.

Embracing. Following Jesus’ example, we focus on what we have in common rather than our differences. We believe every background brings with it a richness and something to share. We’re open to sharing and hearing from each other’s different perspectives and experiences and believe we’re a better community because of it.

Narrative. We view the Bible as something more powerful than a manual for living. It is the story of God and mankind and His reclaiming of us from sin. As a community we strive to discover what God reveals in the Bible and to each find our unique place in that story.

Missional. Serving the least is of great importance to God, and so we encourage each other to “be” the church rather than just “attending” church. We have three main missional initiatives as well as an abundance of other ministry partners that provide families the opportunity to be representatives of Christ right here in our community, our region, and even in far-reaching areas of the world like Africa and Central America.

Emerging. Although God is unchanging, we are constantly growing in our understanding of Him, His purpose for us in this world, and what God intends “church” to be. We want to be a church that is constantly adapting to be more empathetic and effective in loving and serving the world.

Interdependent. The Bible is pretty clear: God created us to live in community. So at WellSpring, we strive to live interdependently. For instance, our Community Care Ministry helps us carry each other’s burdens and support each other with love and good deeds during challenging times. And great friendships and support systems are developed through people’s involvement in WellSpring’s various groups and classes.

Baptizing. Through the practice of baptism we welcome and celebrate with those who have decided to turn away from their self-driven ways, receive God’s cleansing, and live out each day their commitment to be a disciple of Christ.

Experiential. An ever-growing understanding of how to live out the Bible is gained as much through experiences as it is through instruction. That’s why our Sunday services offer people the chance to be less a spectator and more a participant if they choose.  For instance, Communion tables are available every Sunday and other optional engaging opportunities are provided regularly.
