Ignition - High School Program
Overdrive Student Ministries has three goals for your teen’s experience with God:
- CONNECT teens with a community of followers of Christ (other teens and adults)
- DEEPEN their journey with God
- EMPOWER them to impact the world
What to Expect
Sunday night high school worship event. Students meet from 6-8 p.m. at the Edge Teen Center (right around the corner from WellSpring) for a high-energy worship experience that combines food, recreation, small groups, worship and relevant messages that relate to teen lives.
A typical night at Ignition:
- Hang out time – Teens enjoy a meal from the Café while they catch up on the previous week.
- C-Groups – A chance to dig deeper into the topic in small groups while building community and breaking down walls with teens. C-Groups remain together for an entire semester to allow students to develop a strong sense of relationship with each other and their adult leaders.
- Fun and Games – Hilarious games and entertaining skits are used to help teens get to know each other and laugh with each other and their leaders in a healthy, relationship-building way.
- Worship – Led by students using the Edge’s state-of-the-art sound, video and lighting system, a high quality worship experience helps draw teens into the topic of the night.
- Large Group Wrap-Up/Talk – Kids are searching for the kind of life that Jesus offers. We want to give it to them straight. Our talks center around the biblical text they have used in their C-groups.
Sunday mornings. Sunday morning Bible studies are also offered to dive deeper into the story of God. Students are challenged to stretch their faith in other ways: prayer practices and fasting/sacrifice are some examples of topics discussed.
Service projects. We empower our high school students to serve inside and outside our church walls. They are leaders during the church’s monthly FX service and serve monthly at Middletown Choice Pantry, among other activities.
Retreats. WellSpring offers two retreats a year that have a powerful impact on our teens. For instance, SoulFuel (in December) is a unique weekend retreat in a home! Small groups of youth meet in the homes of church members for an intense study time, led by trained adult leaders with the goal of strengthening the ongoing process of discipleship.
Partnering with Parents
YOU are the number one influencer on teens when it comes to spiritual matters. Our Student Ministries will have a greater impact when we partner with parents…which is why communication with parents is so important to us. You can expect:
- Weekly updates – What your child is learning about on Sundays, so you can continue the discussions when they get home
- Quarterly updates – Event info and subject matter for the coming quarter (can also be found at http://studentsatthewell.blogspot.com)
- Ongoing encouragement – We offer additional support to parents through a weekly parenting newsletter, “parenting adolescents” meetings three times a year, and a yearly “Real World Parents” half-day seminar
